The New Series video Funk on the B-3 presents Chicago Hammond Funk master Chris Foreman, a very deep and soulful stylist of blues, funk, and gospel Hammond forms which he masterfully combines in a riveting deep-fried brand of nasty Hammond funk.

In this video, Chris Forman treats us to two down-and-greasy early 70's style funk jams, joined by some very heavy-hitting players on clavinet, bass, and drums. Chris demonstrates his mastery of the Hammond and shows us how and why the Hammond's funk power is second to no other instrument. Following his live performance, Chris methodically breaks down his technique for us, showing funk chord structures, rhythms, and soloing style. Chris's deep gospel roots show through as do his soul blues in the flavor of vintage Jimmy McGriff.

In live performance funk segments, Chris is joined by Bill Brown (right) who turns in a clavinet performance that positively drips funk. Sitting in on bass is funk heavy Richard Patterson (back center). Richard's impressive resume includes stints with Miles Davis, Boz Skaggs, Aretha Franklin and countless others. Red hot grooves are provided courtesy of veteran drummer Terry Morresette (left). Together these guys lay down some of the funkiest sounds found anywhere.

As with all videos in the New Series , we've included a bonus audio CD containing of the entire performance and instructional segments of the video session treating your ears to this gorgeous digitally recorded work.
