LPRE3 Tube Preamp Pedal

Using classic tube technology, the Hampton Preamp pedal delivers warm, full, rich tonality to a variety of classic Leslie models like the 122 and 147.

This premium quality preamplifier pedal features a vacuum tube design using 12AU7, wide-range controls for volume, bass, and treble, 1/4" input, 5 and 6 pin Leslie output connectors, and very heavy duty construction. And most important of all, of course, is it's creamy and full bodied tone.

Use this Preamp for tonal enhancement in connecting an organ, synthesizer, guitar, electric piano, or any electric instrument to a classic tube Leslie. The Preamp accepts a 1/4" input jack and drives either a 5-pin or a 6-pin Leslie cable socket to connect to a variety of Leslie speakers (see specifications below).

Separate bass, treble, and volume controls provide lots of tone shaping and tons of output. With all-steel construction and a polished stainless steel finish, this unit is built to last.

Heavy duty foot switches control power on/off and Leslie slow/fast (chorale/tremolo) speeds. Large red and orange indicator lamps display power on and fast speed.

This powerful Preamp design can effortlessly match any 1/4" source to a Leslie. Modern organs and synthesizers, or low level inputs such as guitar, vintage electric pianos and organs are all handled effortlessly with tons of headroom to spare. The Preamp can deliver full, rich, sparkling and spotlessly clean tone to your Leslie. And if you're after a nastier tone, just boost the pedal volume; this design has plenty of output power to easily overdrive your Leslie to a classic grinding growl. In either case, clean or dirty, the tone delivered is rich, full, and warm.

The bass and treble controls deliver a surprisingly wide range of tonal coloration. These controls are particularly useful for shaping the often overly harsh highs and weak lows output by digital Hammond "clone" organs. Simply dial out some of the harsher treble tone. Need more bass? No problem, the Hampton Preamp bass control can supply bass punch by the truckload. Your organ bass lines have rarely had this fullness and punch.

The tube design employs a 12AU7 vacuum tube, rather than the 12AX7 designs commonly used in guitar preamps. The 12AU7 offers a rounder, more balanced and less harsh brand of amplification than does the 12AX7. The classic tube Leslie amplifier design (122, 147, etc.) also use the 12AU7, a choice well respected by the designers of the Hampton Preamp pedal.
